There was a time the clarinet was a major lead instrument in the popular bands. It was the heyday of Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Woody Herman, among others too numerous to mention. For reasons that are dificult to understand the clarinet declined from this pinnacle, so that today one is hard pressed to find a clarinet-playing leader.
This is perhaps one reason why Rick Bogart seems so refreshing. We have come to miss the clarinet lead.

Rick Bogart worked in New Orleans during the heyday of the French Quarter. Then moved to New York and started a long engagement at Harrah's -Atlantic City. He then toured the world many times over as a headliner on cruise ships (65 countries) sharing the stage with many well known entertainers. He has written songs for many major movies including-Earthly Possessions,Love in the Time of Money,The End of Love. He is the subject of the Documentary "When the Clarinet Swings" playing on various PBS stations and Arts Channels in Europe.His Latest CD Rick Bogart -Jazzology Records is selling well. He is currently in the midst of a record breaking engagement at Seppi's in the Parker- Meridien Hotel in New York City.
